The device is designed to provide the high-end performance of a workbook with an 18mm Ultrabook form factor and a weight of 1.6kg.

Only a prototype was on show at the event, but HP plans to offer a 14in screen with 1366×768 resolution. The device includes Intel’s third generation Ivy Bridge processor, has space for up to 16GB of RAM, and a choice of 500GB HDD or 256GB SSD.

The key feature for business users will be hp laptop batteries life. HP claims the EliteBook Folio will provide nine hours of uptime, which can be extended with an attachment to an impressive 20 hours.

Other business centric features include a Trusted Platform Module (TPM), an integrated smart card reader as well as full volume encryption. Users can also opt for inbuilt 3G/LTE connectivity.

HP is keen to ensure users do not have to worry about attachments. The Folio has a range of legacy ports, including VGA, DisplayPort, Ethernet and three full-sized USB 3.0 ports. There will also be an optional docking station to provide convenient connectivity in office environments.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed, and HP plans to start shipping the device in October.

Hennessy knew that the cheapest price did not necessarily mean the best value, so he did the only logical thing: pull on his Mad Science labcoat, buy samples of all the laptop batteries, build an Arduino-controlled testing rig, and start generating data.

Hennessy describes his testing circuit as follows:

My idea was really simple: I would make a circuit that would fully discharge each of the Acer aspire one d250-1165 batteries while measuring how much energy it produced (displayed in Joules and in Watt-Hours).

The circuit works by measuring the voltage across a fixed load every second until the voltage drops to less than 0.2V. For simplicity, I used a resistive load (the original plan was to use a 4.7R resistor but I didn’t have any high power resistors to hand so I used 4 22R resistors in parallel instead giving me an effective load of 5.5R.

Over on his blog, Hennessy has published the results of his tests of 10 different brands of battery. Most of the batteries perform about the same from 1.5V down to about 1.2V, but below that, the results diverge wildly, with about a 9x difference between the best and the worst.

Los Angeles (CNN) — Lindsay Lohan’s had enough of people’s false accusations while she’s trying to get her career back on track after five years of legal troubles, her publicist said Tuesday.

“We’ve reached a point where it’s just not going to be tolerated anymore,” Steve Honig said. “People need to understand that there are consequences.”

Lohan and her lawyer, Shawn Holley, will visit the Los Angeles County sheriff’s West Hollywood substation Tuesday to request an investigation of Marisa Sullivan Dugas, the woman who accused Lohan of  laptop battery.

“There have been a few incidents like this within the last few months, and we’ve reached a point where it’s just not going to be tolerated anymore,” Honig said. “People need to understand that there are consequences. You can’t just make accusations, file false police reports, and expect you’ll walk away from it and nothing’s going to happen to you. This woman’s going to learn a very tough lesson in these next few weeks.”

Dugas said Lohan shoved her at the Standard Hotel’s club Thursday night, but she did not file a criminal report with the sheriff until Saturday.

“It’s egregious,” Honig said. “Lindsay wasn’t even there. This is not something that’s exaggerated. It’s something that was completely fabricated.”

Lohan was at home watching television at the time of the alleged nightclub scuffle, Honig said.

“If I was this young girl, I would be busy at work on some sort of an apology right now, and hoping that it was received,” Honig said.

Dugas, in a phone call with CNN on Tuesday, declined to talk about the case, although she said she was dying to tell her story.

Honig accused Dugas of shopping her story around to media outlets before filing an official report.

“This is just another very unfortunate incident of someone trying to take advantage of Lindsay to get their 15 minutes of fame, and get some money out of it as well,” he said.

Dugas, who describes herself as “a nice person,” denies wanting money for interviews, although she said she’s been offered “a lot.”

Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Bowman said Monday that a detective has the battery report and would check the story’s validity. “It’s just an allegation,” Bowman said.

The allegation comes less than two weeks after Lohan’s supervised probation came to an end. She’s no longer under the threat that any criminal complaint could become a probation violation leading to jail time.

But bad news coverage could reinforce concerns that film and TV producers have about hiring Lohan for projects at a time that she’s trying to prove she’s dependable and ready to stay out of trouble.

Lohan is preparing to portray Elizabeth Taylor in a Lifetime movie, which starts filming next month. She also has a role in an upcoming episode of the hit Fox TV show “Glee.”

A judge warned her last month that avoiding future trouble could be a challenge.

“I know it’s hard when people are following you all over the place, but that’s the life you chose,” Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner told Lohan, advising her to “live your life in a more mature way, stop the nightclubbing and focus on your work.”

Her recent hosting job on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” earned high ratings, and her photo spread in Playboy’s January issue set sales records for the magazine.

  The courts  in the uS today sure appear to be in a bad state, when using the same courts in comparison to identical ones 50 years ago…that were not sources of filling an account for a government that is now rated on it’s ability to levy tax and not govern efficiently.(fair and impartial)

  Cruel and unusual punishment….actually it was specialized treatment. The average citizen would have spent the entire time in jail, not railroaded so as to get home in two days time and constant warnings and probation. As a celebrity she was not treated justly but it was a step in the right direction since most other celebrities would have gotten off even easier.

  I’m pretty sure she’s still on informal probation for the necklace theft for the next 2.5 years.  So she still has to obey the laws.  If she is arrested for any reason, that informal probation will send her back into the system.  Or is California ignoring that too?

  It’s amazing what people will call the police for these days.  When I was growing up, shoving people really wasn’t a big deal.  Now it’s considered battery.  We’re raising a generation of wimps now that like to over sue.  If you bump into someone these days, you can go to jail.  Ridiculous.  Jail should be reserved for drug dealers, sexual predators and murderers.

1.          Defrag regularly - The faster your hard drive does its work - less demand you are going to put on the hard drive and your Dell Inspiron N5010 battery. Make your hard drive as efficient as possible by defragging it regularly.

2.   Dim your screen - Most laptops come with the ability to dim your laptop screen. Some even come with ways to modify CPU and cooling performance. Cut them down to the lowest level you can tolerate to squeeze out some extra battery juice.

3.   Cut down on programs running in the background - Itunes, Desktop Search, etc. All these add to the CPU load and cut down battery life. Shut down everything that isn’t crucial when you’re on battery.

4.   Cut down external devices - USB devices (including your mouse) & WiFi drain down your Dell Inspiron N5010 battery. Remove or shut them down when not in use. It goes without saying that charging other devices (like your iPod) with your laptop when on battery is a surefire way of quickly wiping out the charge on your laptop battery.

5.   Add more RAM - This will allow you to process more with the memory your laptop has, rather than relying on virtual memory. Virtual memory results in hard drive use, and is much less power efficient. Note that adding more RAM will consume more energy, so this is most applicable if you do need to run memory intensive programs which actually require heavy usage of virtual memory.

6.   Run off a hard drive rather than CD/DVD - As power consuming as hard drives are, CD and DVD drives are worse. Even having one in the drive can be power consuming. They spin, taking power, even when they?re not actively being used. Wherever possible, try to run on virtual drives using programs like Alcohol 120% rather than optical ones.

7.   Keep the battery contacts clean - Clean your Dell Inspiron N5010 Laptop battery’s metal contacts every couple of months with a cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol. This keeps the transfer of power from your battery more efficient.

8.   Take care of your battery - Exercise the Dell Inspiron N5010 Laptop battery. Do not leave a charged Dell Inspiron N5010 battery dormant for long periods of time. Once charged, you should at least use the battery at least once every two to three weeks. Also, do not let a Li-On battery completely discharge. (Discharing is only for older batteries with memory effects)

9.   Hibernate not standby - Although placing a laptop in standby mode saves some power and you can instantly resume where you left off, it doesn’t save anywhere as much power as the hibernate function does. Hibernating a PC will actually save your PC’s state as it is, and completely shut itself down.

10.     Keep operating temperature down - Your laptop operates more efficiently when it’s cooler. Clean out your air vents with a cloth or keyboard cleaner, or refer to some extra tips by LapTopMag.com.

11.     Set up and optimize your power options - Go to ‘Power Options’ in your windows control panel and set it up so that power usage is optimized (Select the ‘max battery’ for maximum effect).

12.     Prevent the Memory Effect - If you’re using a very old laptop, you’ll want to prevent the ‘memory effect’ - Keep the battery healthy by fully charging and then fully discharging it at least once every two to three weeks. Exceptions to the rule are Li-Ion Dell Inspiron N5010 battery (which most laptops have) which do not suffer from the memory effect.
